Playing For Change Africa is an collaborative artistic movement to create positive change on the African continent, beginning with PFCF programs in Morocco, Mali, and Ghana
PFC Africa began in November 2021 when leaders from PFCF programs Ecole de Musique de Kirina in Mali and Bizung School of Music and Dance in Ghana came to Morocco to visit Joudour Sahara, take part in a recording session at Studio Hiba in Casablanca, and participate in the conference ‘Peace Through Music’ at Visa For Music showcase in Rabat
This trip marked the first international gathering of multiple PFCF program leaders
While on this trip to Morocco, leaders Halim Sbai (Joudour Sahara), Mahamadou Diabate and Seydou Dembele (Ecole de Musique de Kirina), and Mohammed Alidu (Bizung School of Music and Dance) decided to join forces and create positive change across Africa together
Along with PFCF Executive Director Jake Groshong and Joudour Sahara co-founder Aziza Chaouni, they spoke about the change they make aross Africa at Visa For Music, and they participated in a residency and recording session with Joudour Sahara musicians and students
